Metrics Works Saltillo (MWS) was established in 2012. It was a part of a 45-year machine shop family from Canada. Very strong engineering-minded owners wanted to focus on their growing machining operations, powder coating, and laser cutting in the Toronto area and MWS was spun off to be a part of Metrics Works.
MWS is located in the industrious town of Saltillo, just outside Monterrey. Saltillo boasts of many automotive and agriculture OEM plants, including GM, Chrysler-Fiat, and large Tier 1 suppliers such as Borg Warner, ZF, Benteler, Mahle FCA Group Cooper-Standard, and many others. MWS counts ZF, Hyster-Yale as its current customers, and it has also done quality work for John Deere (Direct), Teknik, Novocast, and Cifunsa.
MWS is focused on machining steel stampings and steel castings primarily. It also has some ductile iron castings. MWS is diversifying into machining aluminum extrusions for aerospace and industrial customers as well. Typical applications include Vertical CNC Machining, Horizontal CNC Machining, CNC Turning, Grinding, and Balancing. Applications include Engine Bracket, Connecting Link, Frame, Bell Crank, Piston Plate, Transmission Hub, Adaptor, and Pistons for the various torque converter and transmission assemblies.
The factory has a mix of new and well-maintained old machines. A large number of machines are Makino brand with several Haas and DMG Mori-Seiki. MWS also has good CNC turning capabilities with Brother, Hwacheon, and a couple of new 2021 Doosan TT2100 SYY for large volume extrusion machining.
MWS is well-positioned to be a machining partner for a variety of aluminum extruders, die casters, and iron foundries located in Monterrey / Saltillo area.
MWS also boasts of CAD/CAM software along with ERP software. It will also have a suite of Smart factory software tools implemented in Q1, 2022.
